New site location for Semioscopis steinkelleriana

 7th May

Buckle Wood, Chapel Hill

Not a great deal of moths around this evening at Buckle Wood. The majority involved Brindled Pug (12) and the localised Great Prominent (14) which was the most abundant tonight. Also localised was the Frosted Green (5), Least Black Arches (2) and a Oak Nycteoline. It was always nice to see a Purple Thorn, Waved Umber a flighty Flame Carpet. For micro's just two species; Green Longhorn and a very nice localised Semioscopis steinkelleriana (Dawn Flat-body).

I don't recall finding it here before at 'Buckle' so a new site for me and a 4th site location overall. For V35 (after checking the records) it seems it is a new site too. It is the latest date that it has been seen as well, just. They seem to be quite elusive and I wonder if they are in low numbers or not likely to stay around the light for too long, visiting and returning back to the undergrowth.
