Redhouse Barns, 6th March 2025

I ran the MV Robinson over-night. This morning I recorded just 4 species:
Common Quaker 5, Hebrew Character 2, Clouded Drab 2 and Acleris literana 1. In 30 years of moth'ing I have never seen the last species before, so was quite excited. Sterling & Parsons says it is common though.

  1. Hi Kevin.
I'm glad you have seen one, so well done as they seem a bit illusive. They are quite striking up close.
I remember when I saw one in 2017, I too was pretty excited.
Just to concur in a sense, that I too have not seen more than one individual. I'm rather perplexed because I get around 'Oaks' on my travels so should see more of them, I don't understand why. I saw some sites record them earlier than later in the year, maybe out of hibernation? I thought these moths were localised not common?
