Please see photos below. I think this is August Thorn for which Martin needed a Photo. It is from my trap in Llantarnam Abbey wood on 20th. August night. Do you agree with my ID or is this September Thorn which I have already trapped in the wood this summer? I would be grateful for comments. Thanks and best wishes--Bob.

    Hi Bob, this does look good for August Thorn, since it is holding it's wings flatter than would a September Thorn, the scalliped trailing edge of the wing is more typical of August Thorn and the abdomen is less bulging. Also the outer cross-line of the forewing is definitely kinked when it meets the costa, so August Thorn for me.
