6th June, Redhouse Barns, Newport Wetlands NNR

I ran the Robinson MV at Redhouse Barns. and recorded 37 species this morning. New for the year were: smoky wainscot, dark arches, small fan-foot, Brussel's Lace (2) and blood-vein. The 'cream' of the crop, however, was a cream-bordered green pea. This Nationally Notable B species has eluded me for the past 28 years of moth trapping. I remember Roger James telling me he had caught one on holiday in Dorset over 20 years ago and I've been intrigued by this moth ever since. Then Kevin Hewitt caught one a couple of weeks ago at the Newport Wetlands visitor centre.

  1. Another good record, there must be a small population present on the levels.
