Oak Lutestring

Oak Lutestring (Cymatophorina diluta) in Tintern on 28th August was new to the garden and completes the full set of Thyatirids for the site. A further three specimens of diluta have subsequently been recorded, including one last night (3/9).

  1. Lucky you, Steve. I recorded Oak Lutestring during my first year of trapping here (1994) but have not seen one since and have pended the record as dubious, not least because I was using South for ID and thought Oak Lutestring was very plain-looking (which they patently aren't). I keep praying I'll catch one at Dingestow, but no luck so far.
