Uskmouth Reedbeds, Newport Wetlands NNR, 12th July 2022

I put the battery powered actinic Skinner trap out in the reedbeds overnight. I was hopeful of catching a Fen Wainscot. This morning in the trap were-  3 Silky Wainscot, 1 Smoky Wainscot, 3 Obscure Wainscot, 1 Ruby Tiger, 1 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Drinker, 1 Small Seraphim, 2 Ringed China-mark, c30 Water Veneer. I was disappointed, because there were no  Fen Wainscots in the trap. Then when I lifted the trap off the bread tray I was using to rest it on, I saw a Fen Wainscot on the bread tray.
This is the 3rd year in a row that I have caught Fen Wainscot at this location, but always singles. I'll try again next week.
