Lighthouse Park

Ran the 120w actinic last night 26/5. Clear & 10° so was a bit optimistic but moths started dropping in around 2230.
31 moths of 23 species by 0200. NFY were as follows
Setaceous Hebrew Character
Light Emerald
Willow Beauty
Marbled Minor agg
Clouded Silver
Clouded Border
Freyer's Pug

Then the star of the night was pulled from the trap


This Toadflax Brocade.

  3. NBN shows two Gower records (but not in Moths of Glamorgan) and one for SM82 in NW inland Pembs. I don't remember anyone trapping in that area and strongly suspect a typo. Surely Mel's is new for Wales.

  4. Well done Melvin. I'm sure you are pretty excited about the find and probably on a crest of a wave being Red Data Book.
    I remember when I caught the Etiella zinckenella back in October 2013 it gave me a great buzz and heightened my interest mothing.
    I'm sure you feel the same.

    1. Thanks Nick.yes i am still on a high.i get a buzz every time i set the trap you just never know whats going to drop in.still a lot of common moths to get for my garden life list, which drives me to set the trap every chance i get.

  5. Just to clarify, the two Gateway records for Gower almost certainly refer to the same rejected record, so there are no VC41 records.
