Uskmouth Reedbeds, 2nd August
I ran the Skinner actinic trap over-night in a ride in the middle of the reedbeds. In the morning I recorded 26 Southern Wainscots, 3 Silky Wainscots, a Least Yellow Underwing, 3 Drinkers, 2 Ringed China-marks, a Small China-mark, 3 Chilo phragmitella and one Calamotropha paludella. No Brown-veined Wainscots, despite trapping 5 at Haisbro Avenue 3 nights before. Are they more attracted to MV than actinic light?
On of 26 Southern Wainscots. Note the distinctive "tiara".
On the same night we caught a Canary-shouldered thorn and a Satin at Haisbro Avenue.
