A late afternoon visit to Tirpentwys near Pontypool produced 10+ Gorse Pod Moth (
Cydia succedana) on the flowering gorse, but not a lot more and no sign of a single butterfly. Around this time last year the site was buzzing with 7 species of butterfly, including Green Hairstreak and Small Copper - also, Burnet Companian.
